Cookie notice
This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. This notice explains the few cookies that can still be set and why.
Draft for legal review. This text is a starting point and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
Our approach
We built semixperts.com to work without tracking. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising or retargeting cookies, no social media pixels and no third-party chat widgets. Because of that, the site does not show a cookie banner: under the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet) and the EU ePrivacy rules, consent is not required for cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you ask for.
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, are covered by this notice in the same way.
Cookies that can be set
Security cookies from our hosting provider
The website is delivered through Cloudflare. To protect the site and its forms against automated abuse, Cloudflare can set strictly necessary cookies, for example a bot management cookie. These cookies do not identify you personally, are not used for tracking across sites and expire after a short time. Cloudflare documents the cookies it sets on its own website.
Editor login for the content studio
The content studio at /studio is used only by SemiXperts staff who edit the website. When an editor logs in, our content management provider, Sanity, sets cookies or local storage entries to keep that session. Visitors who do not log in to the studio do not receive these.
Form submissions
Contact, quote, sell equipment and newsletter forms do not set cookies. What happens to the data you send through them is described in the privacy notice.
What we do not use
| Type | Used on this site |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary (security, editor login) | Yes |
| Preferences | No |
| Analytics or statistics | No |
| Advertising, retargeting or social media | No |
If we ever add analytics or another category of cookie that needs consent, we will ask for that consent before setting it and update this notice first.
How long cookies last
Cloudflare's security cookies are short-lived and expire on their own, typically within minutes to hours, depending on the protection that is active. Editor session data for the content studio lasts until the editor logs out or the session expires. We do not set long-lived cookies that recognise you on a later visit.
Server logs are not cookies
Separately from cookies, our hosting provider processes request data such as IP addresses, browser type and the page requested, to deliver pages and block abuse. When you submit a form, we record the time, the page you sent it from and the country derived from your connection. This is not stored in your browser and is covered by the privacy notice, including how long it is kept.
Embedded content and external links
Pages on this site do not embed videos, maps or social media posts from other providers. Some pages link to manufacturers' or standards bodies' websites. Those sites have their own cookie policies, which apply once you leave semixperts.com.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can view and delete cookies in your browser settings, and block them altogether. Blocking strictly necessary cookies can stop forms from submitting if our hosting provider cannot tell your browser apart from automated traffic. If that happens, email us directly using the address on the contact page.
Changes to this notice
We review this notice whenever we change the hosting set-up, add a feature to the website or start working with a new provider that could place something in your browser. If a change means a cookie would need your consent, the consent request comes first and the cookie follows only if you agree. The date at the top of this page shows when we last changed the text.
