About SemiXperts, refurbished semiconductor equipment and service
We refurbish, upgrade, maintain and install used semiconductor process tools for university cleanrooms, pilot lines and small fabs, from our base in Dordrecht.
What we do
SemiXperts supplies used and refurbished semiconductor equipment and keeps it running. We work on single-wafer and batch tools for lithography, etch, deposition, thermal processing, ion implantation, wet processing and CMP, metrology and back-end packaging. Most of the tools we handle are 50–200 mm platforms that larger fabs have retired but that still fit research and low-volume production well.
Our work falls into four services:
- Refurbishment: replacing worn parts, cleaning chambers and vacuum systems, and recalibrating to the original specification.
- Upgrades: control system retrofits, wafer size conversions, UV-LED light sources, dry pumps and endpoint detection.
- Maintenance: preventive maintenance, repairs, spare parts, calibration and remote support.
- Installation: de-installation, crating, transport, facility hook-up, commissioning and operator training.
You can buy a tool from us and have it installed, or bring us in to keep a tool you already own in production.
Who we work for
We work for small and mid-sized cleanrooms that cannot justify a new production tool for every process step. That usually means one of three groups:
- Universities and research institutes running shared cleanrooms, where one tool serves many users and processes change every semester.
- Pilot lines and small fabs producing MEMS, photonics, power devices or sensors on 150 mm and 200 mm wafers, where uptime and spare parts matter more than throughput.
- Start-ups and corporate R&D labs that need a working process quickly and on a limited budget.
Each group has its own page in this section explaining how we approach their projects, starting with universities and research.
How a project runs
A typical purchase starts with your process, not with a model number. You tell us what you need to make, on which wafer size, and what your facility can supply: power, cooling water, process gases, exhaust and floor space. We shortlist tools that fit and tell you plainly where a tool would need an upgrade or where it would not suit your process.
Before we offer a tool, we power it up where it is safe to do so and check it against its original specification. The result goes into an inspection report and a condition grade: Certified, Refurbished, Inspected or As-is. The grades and the contents of the report are described on how we inspect.
Once you have agreed a refurbishment scope, we do the work, crate the tool for transport and, if you want, install and commission it in your cleanroom. Quotes are written per tool and per scope, so you can see what refurbishment, upgrades, transport and installation each add.
Why used equipment makes sense for small cleanrooms
Many processes taught and developed in research cleanrooms were defined on tools from the 1990s and 2000s. A refurbished mask aligner, RIE system or sputter tool from that generation can still deliver the results a research group or pilot line needs, at a fraction of the lead time of a new tool. The trade-offs are real: older control electronics, discontinued parts and missing documentation. Our job is to tell you about those trade-offs before you buy and to manage them after.
The founder
SemiXperts was founded in Dordrecht by Aron Raja. He started the company because research cleanrooms and small fabs need capable process tools that are documented honestly and supported after they are installed.
Independent of manufacturers
We are not affiliated with any equipment manufacturer and do not present ourselves as an authorised service partner. Where a spare part is no longer available from the original manufacturer, we tell you what we are fitting instead and why. Manufacturer and model names on this site identify the tools; they do not imply any relationship.
Talk to us
If you are planning a new process step, replacing a tool that has become hard to support, or selling equipment you no longer use, contact us with a short description of your process and facility. Sellers can go straight to the sell equipment form.
Questions and answers
Are you affiliated with any equipment manufacturer?
No. SemiXperts is independent and not affiliated with or authorised by any equipment manufacturer. Manufacturer and model names on this site are used only to identify the tools we sell and service.
Where are you based?
Our base is in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. We ship and install tools outside the Netherlands as well; export rules decide what is possible for each tool and destination.
Do you only sell tools, or do you also service tools we already own?
Both. We service, upgrade and maintain tools you already run, whether or not you bought them from us.
Looking for a specific tool?
Tell us the process, wafer size and facilities. We shortlist tools that fit and send an inspection report with every offer.
